Both teams coming into the Barry Cup finals had identical 3 and 1 records and it was going to be anybody’s game. Nic Roldan (8) was the first to score on a penalty shot for Audi and Crab Orchads’s Mariano Aguerre (9) countered within two minutes to tie the score at one all. The first chukker ended with Audi ahead 3 to 2. They held onto a one-goal lead after the second period but the game was tied 6-all at the half.

A powerful Crab Orchard team took control of the second half and outscored Audio three to nothing in the 4th. Audi struggled to get back within one goal in the 5th but Crab Orchard was in full control of the final period on goals by Matias Magrini (8) and Felipe Viana (3). Patron George Rawlings (0) was missing from high goal polo last year but his Crab Orchard team returned to twenty goal polo with an impressive 11-9 victory over Audi to win the Berry Cup.

Nic Roldan, playing for Audi, accounted for eight of his teams nine goals and was a scoring machine during the tournament with 33 goals to lead all 56 players participating in the Barry Cup. The Best Playing Pony prize went “Machitos Jackie” and six year old mare played by Mariano Aguerre in the 4th. The Most Valuable Player award went to Matias Magrini who told me after the game “It was a weird game today. We didn’t do very well in the first half but our team really came together in the 4th chukker.”
