Empire Polo Club 10-goal results from the weekend of 3-9-12 to 3-11-12

Empire, Tentnology score double wins
over the weekend

Action continues in the 8-10 goal Medjool Challenge at the Empire Polo club in Indio,
California with both Tentnology and Empire scoring a pair of wins in the five -game
weekend competition.

Tentnology (Gery Warner, Artie Cameron, Nicolas Maciel and Santiago Wulff) opened
tournament play with an 11-8 win over a plucky Barrossa (Rodrigo Moran, Santiago
Trotz, Erik Wright and Jeff Graham) polo team after charging out to a 6-3 halftime lead.

Maciel scored the first goal of the game, followed by a pair of goals from teammate
Wulff (one from the field and one on a penalty shot) for a first chukker 3-0 lead.
Barrossa responded with a goal from Wright and the chukker ended with Tentnology in
front, 3-1.

Tentnology added three more goals in the second, with Wulff scoring two more goals
from the field and Maciel making good on a penalty shot. Barrossa scored via the
penalty route as well, with Graham ad Wright both converting shots for goals. The
period ended with Tentnology holding a three goal, 6-3 lead.

The pace slowed down a bit in the third, with Wulff accounting for the only Tentnology
goal on a 60-yard penalty conversion. Moran managed a goal for Barrossa, but
Tentnology maintained its three goal lead, 7-4 as the first half ended.

Trotz scored consecutive goals for Barrossa in the fourth while Tentnology’s offense fell
flat. The lead was cut to a single goal, 7-6, with s definite momentum switch.

Goals from Maciel and Wulff were kept pace by Barrossa with Graham scoring twice
(once from the field and once on a penalty shot). Tentnology continued to guard its one
goal lead, 9-8.

A resilient defense and single goals from Wulff and Maciel carried the day for
Tentnology as they rode off the field with the 11-8 victory.

Wulff led all scoring with seven goals. Maciel added four goals in the Tentnology win.

Graham set the pace for Barrossa with three goals. Trotz and Wright scored two goals
apiece, and Moran added a goal in the loss.

EMPIRE 12, TRINITY 7

Mariano Fassetta’s six goals assisted Empire (Erik Hammon, Craig Steinke, Ashton
Wolf and Mariano Fassetta) in closing out Friday’s competition with a well-orchestrated
12-7 win over Trinity (Rick Paicius, Robin Paicius, Tim Rudy and Agustin Zavaleta).

Trinity received two goals by handicap and added to it as Paicius scored a first chukker
goal on a penalty shot for Trinity. Empire’s Wolf responded with a goal from the field;
with Trinity taking the early 3-1 lead.

Empire caught up with Trinity in the second chukker, capitalizing on a pair of goals from
Fassetta and shutout defense to tie it up at 3-3.

Trinity continued to have difficulties breaking through the Empire defense in the third as
goals from Hammon and Fassetta resulted in a 5-3 halftime lead.

There was no let-up in the second half with Fassetta adding two more goals and
Steinke scoring his first of the day. Rudy managed a single goal for Trinity, but the
Empire lead now stood at four goals, 8-4.

Trinity managed to close the gap a bit in the fifth with single goals from Rick and Robin
Paicius, Steinke scored his second goal of the game, and Empire continued to lead, 9-
6.

Trinity’s Rudy scored his second goal of the game in the final chukker, but it was
no match for the Empire offense. Penalty goals from Steinke and Fassetta were
complimented by Hammon’s field goal in the 12-7 Empire victory.

Fassetta set the bar with six goals on the day. Steinke scored three times; Hammon
added two and Wolf chipped in a goal for the win.

Rudy and Rick Paicius scored two goals each for Trinity. Robin Paicius added a goal
and the team received two goals by handicap.

TENTNOLOGY 10, GYPSY/TRITECH 8

After battling Gypsy/Tritech (Chris Maloney, Gaston Von Wernich, Graham Bray and
Suzanne Figi) to a 4-4 halftime tie, Tentnology score six unanswered goals in the fourth
chukker to cruise to a 10-8 win in Saturday action.

Tentnology scored the first three goals of the game for a 3-0 first chukker lead, picking
up goals from Maciel, Cameron and Wolf.

The Gypsy/Tritech defense shored up in the second chukker, holding Tentnology
scoreless, but was only able to manage s single goal from Figi. After two chukkers of
play, Tentnology continued to lead, 3-1.

Wolf opened the third chukker with a goal from the field for Tentnology before Gypsy/
Tritech retaliated with three straight goals. Single goals from Von Wernich, Bray and
Maloney ended the first half with the teams deadlocked at 4-4.

The fourth chukker ended up being the turning point of match as Tentnology scored
six goals with no response from Gypsy/Tritech. Wolf scored three times with two goals
coming from Maciel (one by penalty shot) and a single goal coming from Cameron. The
period ended with Tentnology sitting on top of a six goal, 10-4 lead.

Gypsy/Tritech managed a single penalty goal in the fifth from Maloney cut the
Tentnology lead to five goals, and trailed 10-5 with one chukker left to play.

The Tentnology team seemed content to cruise through the final chukker, allowing three
more Gypsy/Tritech goals two from Von Wernich and a single goal from Maloney in the
10-8 Tentnology victory.

Wolf scored five times for Tentnology. Maciel added three goals and Cameron scored
twice.

Maloney and Von Wernich scored three goals apiece. Bray and Figi scored single
goals for Gypsy/Tritech.

BARROSSA 11, TRINITY 8

Barrossa rode out to a 6-4 halftime lead before downing Trinity Sunday afternoon in an
11-8 match that saw Rodrigo Moran score seven times.

Trinity received two goals by handicap and got a goal from the field in the first chukker
from Rick Paicius. Wright and Moran scored single goals for Barrossa as Trinity took an
early 3-2 lead.

Goals from Trotz and Moran went unanswered as Barrossa captured a 4-3 advantage
at the end of the second period of play.

A pair of goals from the field from Moran were countered by a single goal from Trinity’s
Zavaleta in the third chukker leading to a 6-4 Barrossa lead.

The two teams exchanged goals in the fourth period with Rudy and Zavaleta scoring for
Trinity and Graham and Moran responding with single goals for Barrossa. The fourth
chukker ended with Barrossa maintaining a two goal lead, 8-6.

Robin Paicius and Moran exchanged goals in the fifth in the only scoring. The period
ended with Barrossa holding on to a 9-7 advantage.

Rudy opened the sixth chukker with a single goal before Barrossa’s Wright and Moran

responded with single goals for the 11-8 final.

Moran led all scorers with seven goals. Wright contributed two goals and Graham and
Trotz were credited with single goals in the win.

Rudy and Zavaleta scored two goals apiece for Trinity. Robin Paicius and rick Paicius
scored single goals and the team received two goals by handicap.

EMPIRE 4, GYPSY/TRITECH 3

In a defensive battle that closed out the Sunday competition, Empire fell behind early
but rallied to score a 4-3 win over Gypsy/Tritech.

Fassetta opened the scoring with a goal in the first chukker. Maloney countered with a
40-yard penalty goal and Bray added a goal from the field with Gypsy/Tritech taking an
early 2-1 lead.

Fassetta tied it up for Empire, 2-2, with the only goal of the second period as Gypsy/
Tritech was unable to break through the Empire defense. Steinke scored the go-ahead
goal for Empire in the third period while Gypsy/Tritech was kept from scoring for the
second straight chukker. The first half ended with Empire edging Gypsy/Tritech by a
narrow 3-2 score.

Neither team would score in the fourth and fifth periods with both trying to gain control of
the ball.

Maloney scored the tying goal for Gypsy/Tritech in the final chukker, but Empire’s
game-winning goal from Wolf ended the scoring and the game 4-3.

Fassetta’s two goals led the Empire attack. Single goals were scored by Steinke and
Wolf.

Maloney led the Gypsy/Tritech attack with two goals. Bray scored the only other goal in
the loss.
