Everything You Need to Know About Opening Week at Greenwich Polo Club
It signifies the start of the summer season: Opening week at Greenwich Polo Club is upon us, with the first Sunday match of the year kicking off on June 6th at 3:00 pm.
The 2021 season will feature a new lineup of high goal tournaments in June and July, beginning on Opening Day with the inaugural East Coast Bronze Cup, followed by the East Coast Silver Cup, and culminating with the East Coast Gold Cup. After a short break, the 116th East Coast Open will start on August 29th and will continue through the final on September 12th.

Meet the Teams for the East Coast Bronze Cup
White Birch Farm (16): Christopher Brant (A), Juan Olivera Jr. (2), Pablo Llorente Jr. (6), Mariano Aguerre (8)
Palm Beach Equine (16): Scott Swerdlin (A), Constancio Caset (5), Juan Redlich (3), Raul Colombres (8)
Level Select CBD (16): Andrew/ Max Gundlach (A), Santiago Torres (7), Pedro Falabella (6), Enrique Zavaleta (3)
The 4 teams playing this tournament will compete in a One League format. All teams play each other. For each victory a team will earn 2 points, while for a loss the team will not earn any points. The team with most points will play the semifinal against the team with least points, and the second and third positioned teams will play against each other. If three teams tied with zero points, the positions will be determined by a shoot out.
The First Match
After a very unique 2020 season, Greenwich Polo Club is incredibly excited to welcome more of its loyal fan base back through its gates for a full season of Sunday matches, with the GPC experience you’ve come to know and love.
From picnicking on the lawn, to the ever-popular halftime divot stomp, to crafting custom cocktails with The Cup Bearer in the Players’ Lounge VIP, there is truly something for everyone at GPC. If you haven’t yet purchased your tickets for the upcoming season, now is the time, as premium tickets are becoming limited for all matches. This season’s Sunday events will be back to nearly full capacity at the club, but please remember that while the State of Connecticut has lifted all restrictions for outdoor events, the CDC encourages those who are not fully-vaccinated to mask and social distance.
The gates for Sunday’s featured public match open at 1:00 pm and play begins at 3:00 pm. Please be sure to purchase your tickets in advance as entry without a ticket is not guaranteed.

Order by Thursday 6/3 at 2pm for the match Sunday 6/6. Pickup of all boxes is onsite at Greenwich Polo at the Marcia Selden Catering concession stand.

Greenwich Polo Club was established in 1981 and is recognized as one of the top high-goal polo venues in the world. Known for its unmatched roster of legendary teams, professional players, and champion equine athletes GPC hosts some of the most important tournaments in polo, including the prestigious East Coast Open.
The club is home to the legendary White Birch polo team, one of the most successful in history, having won the most high-goal polo tournaments of any team over the course of the past 25 years, including the US Open Polo Championship in 2005.
Some of the world’s best players have played at Greenwich Polo Club, including Mariano Aguerre, Facundo Pieres, Hilario Ulloa, Nacho Figueras and many others. Each Spring players descend on Greenwich with their strings of elite horses to compete for some of polo’s most prestigious titles.
